Excuse me, sonny, what time does the One o'Clock gun go off?
Can I buy whisky fresh rather than this matured stuff?
Is that your Edinborogh Castle?
What time is the midnight train out of Edinburgh?
Gee, that's swell. Let's get the five o'clock bus back to our hotel, it should be quiet at that time...
Yes, for the next three weeks it's the Edinburgh Festival. I think I'll head for the hills once I find out what time the midnight express leaves....

Standing outside 'Binns' on one occasion I was asked "Where is Princes Street?"
Sigh......... If people would just use their brains just a wee bit then all could be well, but I know that's asking way too much lol. Should have a contest to see who gets asked the most stupidest question. I'll throw mine in from last year.......an American woman actually asked me why all our men aren't in kilts all the time, as not only for the festival, that's why she came to Scotland - I told her that only happens on Tuesdays - its Kilt Tuesday. She looked at me wide eyed and said thanks so much I cant wait .......at least I have this Sunday's Friendly to look forward to....Hope you are feeling better Mike, how's that Man Flu??

When does the one o'clock gun go off.
I can remember being on a school trip when I was little waiting for it to be fired. We must have stood with hands over our ears in bitterly cold wind waiting for it to happen. One of the longest ten minutes I have lived.
I have good form on that one. My grandfather had one of his ear drums blown out in World War 1.
You going to Tynecastle, Melissa? I was thinking of going but as I have Setanta I may stay at home. I'll be in The Diggers before the Motherwell game next Saturday though...!
I'm going to stay home... watch on Setanta and listen on Hearts World. Should be a cracking game tho. Hope you're feeling better and if you go have a grand time
Melissa
I also chose to stay at home and watch it on Setanta. As did most other people - only 5,000 there. A half decent show by Hearts but it was little more than a training exercise.
The real stuff starts next Saturday!
WHAT?? You mean all the men in Scotland don't wear kilts all the time? I was going to fly up there this weekend but it looks like I'll have to wait until Tuesday...hee hee. Yes, I am one of those American women that enjoys seeing a real Scottish man in a kilt. In Seattle there is a hideous place called The Utilikilt store. It is a store where computer geeks and other men who think they are cool can buy denim, khaki, courdoroy or even plaid kilts. They usually wear these kilts with tennis shoes and no socks and a plain white, dirty T-shirt, as their beer gut hangs over the top of it and their long thin pony tails cascade down their backs - they also have big pockets where they can store lots of things and have big bulges every where...I always pray that there is NOT a strong wind when they are walking...yes, it is a site to behold...
